One Month Before the Move
□ Obtain removalist quotes and insurance for goods in transit - Contact Moving Soon to compare rates with reputable businesses.
□ Gather moving supplies (e.g., newspaper, bubble wrap, boxes, tape) for items you will be packing yourself.
□ Put a list of contents on each box you pack and write "fragile" on boxes that need to be handled with care.

□ Review your home and contents insurance for your new home - Contact Moving Soon to obtain competitive quotes.
□ Review your Income protection and Life Insurance policy. Will your family have enough protection in your new circumstance? Contact Moving Soon to compare plans and rates.
□ For unwanted items, consider donating to a charity AND/OR hold a garage sale.

□ If necessary, open a new bank account, safety deposit box and Post Office box.
□ Arrange the transfer of your children's school records to the new school.
□ If you own a pet, obtain medical records from your vet. Moving can be traumatic for animals, so make sure your pet has a familiar toy or blanket for reassurance during the trip.
□ Move valuables (jewelry, legal documents and insurance records) to a safety deposit box or a safe storage place.
□ Make your travel arrangements (e.g., plan your route, travel stops and accommodations).
□ Arrange to have sufficient cash to cover the move.
□ Confirm your moving schedule with the real estate agent or landlord at the new location.

Final Week Before the Move

□ Plan for the special needs of children and pets prior to, during and after the move (e.g., medication, food, care and entertainment).
□ Use any remaining food in your refrigerator.
The Day Before the Move
□ Don't forget to get your valuables out of the safety deposit box or safe storage place.
□ Defrost and clean the refrigerator.
□ Hand over the keys to the real estate agent or new owner.
□ Make sure the bed linen is easily accessible to make the beds in your new home.
Moving Day
□ Check all of the cupboards before you go.
□ Turn off the water, gas and electricity.
□ Take the garage door opener out of the car before you leave.
After the Move
